About CardRateCheck
CardRateCheck helps UK small businesses work out what taking card payments will really cost them. It exists because card machine pricing is hard to compare: one provider charges a flat percentage, another a monthly fee plus a lower rate, another a fixed fee on every sale, and the cheapest choice depends on your takings and your typical sale.
Who runs it
CardRateCheck is run by HTML Studio, a web development business in Leicestershire. The calculators are built by Oliver Burton, a senior web developer who builds reporting and pricing tools for businesses, and also runs the consumer energy site EnergySwitch.co.uk. He writes the calculators, checks providers' prices and reviews every page.
What we do and don't do
- We take prices from each provider's own UK pricing page and show the date we checked them.
- We rank providers only by what they would cost for the figures you enter. See how we calculate.
- We are not a payment provider, broker or financial adviser, and nothing here is financial advice.
- We don't promote loans, cash advances or other credit.
How the site is paid for
Some providers pay us a commission when a business signs up through our links. That never changes the figures or the order. Full details are in how we make money.
